2018 was a record-breaking year for fundraising for the Gamma Upsilon Annual Campaign. We received a record $16,972.72 from 67 other generous donors! While every Gamma Upsilon alumnus should rightly be proud of this accomplishment, it would not have been possible without two massive challenge grants from brothers Dru Neikirk ’88 and Sean DonCarlos ’03. Brother Neikirk matched every donation by alumni in his Silver Legion membership club (those brothers with 25 to 49 years of membership in Theta Chi), while Brother DonCarlos did the same for every fellow Young Alumni brother (those brothers with 24 years of membership or fewer).
We face a significant challenge in 2019: to meet or exceed our record 2018 levels without the heroic assistance of Dru and Sean. We believe that this is possible because 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the installation of the Gamma Upsilon Chapter into Theta Chi Fraternity and that our alumni, like yourself, who contributed in 2018 will rise to the occasion once again to help us to celebrate this momentous year.
The impact alumni support has made on our chapter is overwhelming. Consider for a moment:
- In 2007, we replaced the old boiler with a new, energy-efficient model.
- In 2008, we converted the barracks room into six two-man rooms.
- In 2009, we installed two new washers and dryers in the boiler room.
- In 2010, we replaced all the wooden doors in the house with metal ones.
- In 2011, we installed a state-mandated fire safety system with sprinklers.
- In 2015, we renovated the main bathroom to commercial health club locker room standards.
- In 2018, we renovated the front and rear entrances and modernized the key system.
- In 2020, we plan to renovate the kitchen to commercial kitchen standards.
If you endorse these initiatives and if you want Theta Chi to continue to succeed at Bradley University, then we encourage you to make a gift of $100, $250, $500, or even $1,000. Regardless of the amount you donate, your gift will leave a lasting impression on the facility and your fellow brothers. Your generosity provides opportunities for deserving undergraduates to attend national and regional leadership institutes sponsored by Theta Chi, provides for long-term life, health, and safety mechanisms at our chapter house at 1308 W. Fredonia, and stabilizes our alumni relations program, which continues to link us together. Because of alumni like you, our fraternity provides its members with an enjoyable and fulfilling collegiate experience and prepares them for rewarding and successful lives after graduation.
You may donate to our 2019 Annual Campaign by clicking “Support the Campaign” on the right hand side of this page.
Regardless of the amount you contribute or the way you participate, your gift is an investment that will keep Gamma Upsilon attractive and meaningful to potential members now and in the future. Your gift also proves that Brotherhood and friendship, through the mutual assistance of every member by “The Helping Hand,” is not only the principle upon which Theta Chi was founded, but is also the principle that remains as significant today as the day you became a Theta Chi for life!
