USD PIKES conclude successful year, chapter reaches new levels of success

The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (PIKE) at the University of South Dakota concluded the 2015-16 academic year on a high note accomplishing several accolades, including:


  • USD Fraternity of the Year
  • USD Ionic Award for overall excellence
  • $39,737.31 dedicated to charity
  • 13,125 community service hours
  • $25,000 commitment to Ava’s House, a hospice facility for children
  • Numerous intramural championships
  • Active chapter grade point average of 3.244
  • Chapter members earned more than $150,000 in scholarships, including USD’s top scholarships and also top scholarships in the world: Gates Millennial Scholar and Goldwater Scholarship
  • Top ranking in recruitment and membership size
  • Student Government Association (SGA) President and several USD SGA Senators
  • Citizenship Pillar, top honor in the fraternity community
  • Scholarship Pillar, top honor in the fraternity community
  • Friendship Pillar, top honor in the fraternity community
  • Strollers Champions
  • Fraternity Sophomore of the Year
  • Fraternity President of the Year
  • Fraternity New Member of the Year
  • Alumnus of the Year
  • Several Student Ambassadors, leaders in Dakotathon, Dakota Days, and other vital student organizations


More than 90 men were part of Pi Kappa Alpha at USD during the 2015-16 academic year. KC Herman, chapter president, applauds his brothers for this amazing success. “Our fraternity has men of all walks of life. Together, our chapter makes a big difference for others,” Herman said. “Being a PIKE at USD is a true honor because many outstanding men are part of our chapter.”
