The University of South Dakota PIKES are proud to announce that our efforts raised more than $31,000.00 for philanthropic causes during the 2013-14 academic year. Through hard work, dedication, and the mindset to help others, the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity successfully reached such a milestone. The major charities that benefited from these generous donations were Cure Kids Cancer and Taylor Trudeau Cycle for Life.
PIKES are fighting cancer so kids don’t have to. Pi Kappa Alpha’s charity of choice is Cure Kid’s Cancer. Cure Kid’s Cancer is dedicated to finding life-saving treatments for children’s cancer by raising funds and awareness for local children’s cancer centers. Cure Kid’s Cancer locally supports the pediatric oncology center at the Sanford’s Children’s Hospital, known as the Castle of Care, in Sioux Falls, SD.
Honoring PIKE brother Taylor Trudeau’s memory, the Taylor Trudeau Cycle for Life is an annual cycling event that takes place all over the country. The Kappa Pi chapter was proud to once again host the event at the University of South Dakota’s Wellness Center where participants could take part in a half hour cycling session with an instructor promoting healthy habits while raising funds and awareness for leukemia, lymphoma, and melanoma cancer research at the M.D. Anderson Center.
