I am extremely proud of what our chapter has accomplished over the previous semester and wanted to provide everyone with a brief overview of everything we achieved. Fall 2012 was one of the best semesters Iota Gamma has ever had. There were feats accomplished for the first time in over six years, an event that happens once in a chapter’s lifetime, and our chapter excelled in numerous areas!

Our chapter has had a long history of excelling in our philanthropic efforts. We contributed more money to philanthropies this semester than we did over the previous two combined! We began the year by donating $5,000 to the Iota Gamma Endowment Fund. Next, our chapter participated in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure. We teamed up with the ladies of the Alpha Phi Sorority and had the largest team size, 84 members, and our team contributed the most money to the event with $8,470! Our last philanthropy of the semester was our annual Haunted House to benefit the Mid Nebraska Food Bank. The event was again a success, allowing us to contribute $1,350 and 1,250 cans! Combined, all three events allowed us to contribute $14,820 and 1,250 cans for philanthropies! Our chapter also helped the community by averaging 29 community service hours per member. We will be hosting our signature philanthropy event, the Kent Estes Memorial Golf Tournament, this spring. Details are available on our Facebook Page.

This past spring, we won Greek Week for the first time in years. Using that momentum, we accomplished a feat this fall that had not been done since 2007. We won Homecoming! With the help of the ladies of the Alpha Phi Sorority and the men of Phi Delta Theta, we finished 4th in the Float, 2nd in both the Adventure Race and Canned Food Build, and 1st in Battle of the Brains, Spirit Competition, and Lip Sync! We’ll be looking to continue our reign by defending our Greek Week title this spring semester.

Each year, our chapter attends the Pike University Kansas City Leadership Summit. This year, thanks to the generous donations of our families and sizable funding from the university, we were able to send 48 of our members to the leadership summit in Kansas City, receiving an award for most men participating!

Our chapter experienced an historic moment this semester as well. This is our chapter’s 26th year since being founded. We have had over 600 members initiate into our ranks, with 25 more initiated this past semester. Of those 25 were our first two legacy members, signaling the beginning of a new generation for our chapter! We currently have 63 active members, but we ended the semester by recruiting 11 men to join our Spring 2013 New Member Class, the largest spring class we have had in years!

Finally, and most importantly, are academics. Academics are the reason we are in college and our Fraternity strives for academic success. This past semester, our chapter earned our highest GPA since the 2007-2008 academic year! Our 65 members averaged a 3.125 GPA!

I want to personally thank all of our friends, family, alumni, and anyone else who has impacted our chapter and helped us achieve these fantastic feats this past semester. Thank you!
