Busy 3 Weeks Completed

Iota Gamma has concluded a busy few weeks. Over the last few weeks we have initiated 25 men into our ranks, we have had our chapter consultant visit, we completed our annual Haunted House, we completed elections, and we attended Pike University.

Our annual Haunted House was again met this year with complications. According to new fire code laws, all tarp included in the house had to be Grade A fire retardant. This forced us to replace all tarp we had used in the past and caused some major headaches leading up to the event. That said, the event was still a major success! We were able to contribute $1,925 and 1,250 cans to the Mid-Nebraska Food Bank, numbers that were higher than the previous year.

Elections were completed and transitions occurred last Sunday. Every position was up for elections and we were able to get a diverse group including members of all class standings. Here is our new executive board:

President Josh Schuman
Internal Vice President Ryan Figgins
External Vice President Brock Shuler
Treasurer Zach Justus
Recruitment Wilfredo Lopez
New Member Educator Andi Diediker
Sargent-At-Arms Brandon Pruss
Continuing Education Tony Munch
Secretary Taylor Jurgens
Member-At-Large Jesse Orsi

This past weekend our chapter attended the Pike University Kansas City Leadership Summit. This is a regional leadership summit put on each year by the International Fraternity. In the past we have had a handful of members attend, last year being the highest with 29 men attending. This year we made a big push to have a majority of our members attend. We applied for Student Talent Development Funds from UNK and received $6,000 to offset the cost of registration. We also used all the money raised during Parent’s Banquet to cover the cost of the hotel rooms. Thanks to all this generous funding, we were able to send 50 men to Kansas City, the most men of any chapter attending the event!

It has been a very hectic semester for us, but Iota Gamma is pushing forward with one of our best semesters in years! Stay tuned for a semester wrap-up next month.
