The International Fraternity in cooperation with Southeastern Louisiana University is pleased to announce the newest colony of Pi Kappa Alpha. Pi Kappa Alpha recently completed an Expansion Project (September 10th through October 4th) recruiting and pinning 73 men to be future Founding Fathers of PIKE at Southeastern Louisiana University. Expansion Consultants Ray Holmgren and Justin Kohrs were on campus as the professional staff coordinating the project.
Southeastern Louisiana University is a public school located in Hammond, LA. Southeastern is currently ranked as the 3rd largest university in the state of Louisiana. Its size in combination with a thriving Greek Life has made Southeastern the ideal campus for Pi Kappa Alpha to create a new colony. PIKE will be the sixth fraternity on campus, along with Kappa Sigma, Delta Tau Delta, Kappa Alpha, Theta Xi, Theta Chi, and Sigma Tau Gamma.
After a minor setback from Hurricane Isaac, the Expansion Consultants began to recruit men with Scholar, Leader, Athlete, and Gentlemen qualities who wanted to create the ideal fraternity on campus. After five weeks on campus the Colony expanded into the largest fraternity on campus.
In addition to leading PIKE at Southeastern to becoming a chartered Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha, these members will lead Southeastern in a number of other ways. The colony includes 7 varsity athletes competing in 3 athletic programs, representatives and leaders in multiple clubs and organizations on campus, the Phi Mu sorority’s “Beau”, and a member of the Army Reserves.
