Pike DanceBlue 2014 Dancers
Feb 24, 2013 Lexington, KY – DanceBlue is a student-run philanthropy at the University of Kentucky. It is a year-long fundraising effort involving thousands of UK students, which culminates in a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon on UK’s campus. It began in 2006 and raised $123,323.16 for the Golden Matrix Fund and the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. This year, the ninth DanceBlue, raised $1,436,606.24. This brings the events total donations to over $6.5 million for children with cancer and cancer research.
This year more than 800 dancers paid to participate, including 9 Pikes. In addition to the dancing, DanceBlue includes a family talent show featuring children from the clinic and an emotional memorial hour to remember those who have lost their battle with cancer.
