MEMBERS OF OMEGA CHAPTER ENTER AND WIN NATIONAL BUSINESS COMPETITION

Feb 11, 2013 Lexington, KY “ Two members of the Omega chapter, Bertie Smith and Scott Deschamp were recently placed on a team representing the University of Kentucky team and won first place in a national business competition held annually at Ohio State University known as “Biz Quiz”. During this event, teams of students from universities across the nation come together and compete in a quick-recall team-oriented competition as well as an individual written portion. Sean Bell, also a chapter active, served as the teams assistant coach and won several individual awards during the written portion of the competition.

“The challenge for the University of Kentucky team at the Wall Street Journal National Biz Quiz was to take a section of the vaunted New York newspaper for six weeks and memorize its contents and then beat the University of North Carolina in sudden death to take the title.” Reads the article written about the victory that can be found here.

The Omega Chapter of The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity was founded at the University of Kentucky in 1900 and has initiated more than 2,000 members. In addition to the accomplishments at the University of Kentucky, The Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity has maintained the largest average chapter size of any inter/national fraternity for most of the past 20 years, and through its members has donated millions of hours and dollars to philanthropic causes and community organizations across North America. ”
