Mu Theta’s March

Now that the month of March is over, it is a good time to write about what the Kent State Pikes have accomplished in this past month. The Kent State Pikes have experienced much success this past month.

Founder’s Day

On the first of March, it was Pi Kappa Alpha’s national Founder’s Day. The Kent State Pikes held an event at a local bowling alley and hosted alumni and current members to celebrate the fraternity’s founding.

ΔZ LipSync 2015 Win:

The Kent State Pikes competed in Delta Zeta’s annual LipSync philanthropy to benefit hearing impaired individuals around the country. In the competition, the Mu Theta chapter put on a seven-minute live skit of Peter Pan which featured live music, choreographed dances that incorporated sign language, and numerous props that made by members of the chapter.

Pike competed with fifteen other fraternities in this annual philanthropy and won every first place award. The Mu Theta chapter walked away with the First Place in Performance, First Place in Fundraising, Delta Zeta’s Choice, and First Place Fraternity Overall awards, and raised over $4,200 for the Delta Zeta Foundation. Overall the event put on by Delta Zeta raised $77,000 for the hearing and speech impaired.

Intramural Indoor Soccer Championship:

On March 16, 2015 Pike’s indoor intramural soccer team won the Greek league championship in an intense game against Alpha Tau Omega. The team was made up by Craig Addis, Trey Edwards, Josh Avsec, Johnny Hilbert, Connor Meekins, Josh Doss, Patrick Reutter, and Austin Pratt.

Chi Omega Karaoke Philanthropy:

The Kent State Pikes participated in Kent State Chi Omega’s first annual ChiO Karaoke and won a third place performance award. The team was made up of CJ Felice, Ryan Cowin, Josh Avsec, and Nathan LaChance.
