Alec Chism receives congratulations from ABT President Don Buffum.
Thanks to contributions to the Delta Chi Mississippi State Scholarship Account through the Delta Chi Educational Foundation, the MSU DX Alumni Association was able to award $500 from the Mickey Putman Scholarship Fund to Alec Chism.
James Mickey Putman is an inspiration for every Delta Chi brother. He was a leader during the colonization of Delta Chi Mississippi State in 1963 and extremely involved as a leader on campus. Between all of his extra curricular activities, Mickey worked hard to keep his GPA up and was selected for several Honor societies.
In honor of Mickey, his scholarship fund awards money to a deserving undergraduate brother every year.
Alec’s qualifications for this award include serving as T-Shirt Chair, Recruitment Chair, Interim “A”, Social Committee and Materials Committee for Delta Chi Mississippi state. Alec is also involved on campus with the Latter-Day Saint Student Association, Student Government (Research and Development Committee) and works for the Colvard Student Union as a University Information Ambassador. Alec not only works hard to devote time to all the organizations mentioned above, but he is currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering and maintains a high GPA.
“While I do not know Mickey personally,” said Alec, “I am proud to call him a brother and to know the legacy he left behind. It is my goal to do the best I can today in everything I can to leave behind a legacy for tomorrow. ”
