Remembering Brothers Gore and Case
As you may know, the Capital Campaign included room naming opportunities in the new Delta Chi House. Dr. Roger Clapp ’89 dedicated a bedroom to deceased Brothers Michael Case ’89 and Richard Gore ’90 who passed away well before their time at the ages of 26 and 30 respectively. Campaign Co-Chair, John Hairston ’87, wanted to reach out to their respective families to let them know that a room had been named in honor of a family member, but our alumni records do not have such contact information.
Therefore, Brother Hairston submitted an article to Brother Case’s hometown newspaper, the Brookhaven Daily Leader, for the purpose of making contact with his family. The article is attached and can be found here:
Note: take the survey and you can access the article.
The feedback was almost immediate, and I am happy to report that Brother Hairston and Brother Clapp had a conference call with the parents of Brother Case. They were very happy to hear about their son being memorialized in the new house and hope to visit the house some day to see the room dedicated to their son.
Brother Hairston has received several leads on Brother Gore’s family and hopes to make contact with them soon.
