Embry-Riddle Chapter Nelli/Phelan Scholarship
Having a named scholarship places the Embry-Riddle Chapter among the elite within the Fraternity. Only a handful of chapters possess the unique combination of longevity and stability, along with a devoted alumni base. The Nelli/Phelan Scholarship Fund was established to thank and honor two very special brothers and their selfless contributions to Delta Chi. The scholarship’s objective is to annually recognize brothers who share Greg Nelli and Pat & Susan Phelan’s lifelong dedication to Delta Chi and the University. Founded in 1996 the fund, which is managed by the Delta Chi Educational Foundation, has annually awarded numerous individuals grants. But more can be done and your help is needed. For example, if the fund balance grows to $100,000, the annual award could increase to $5,000 per student. This increased level would focus greater attention on the importance of scholarship within the chapter and also provide a rush tool to attract future brothers who, by succeeding academically, are more likely to stay enrolled in school and remain active.
Congratulations to students Kevin Batz, Connor Quinn, and Nolan Vores, who received the 25th annual Embry-Riddle Delta Chi Fraternity Nelli-Phelan Scholarship!
Delta Chi alumni generously established the fund in 1996 to honor two brothers and their lifetime of contributions to Delta Chi and the university. More than $40,000 in scholarships has been awarded over the past decades to its student members.
“The recognition of these three accomplished brothers focuses attention on the importance of academic performance within the chapter,” said Delta Chi Scholarship Chairman Mitchell Licht (’18). “It also provides a recruitment tool to attract like-minded future brothers who, by succeeding academically, are more likely to become leaders in Delta Chi, graduate from the university and loyally support both organizations for a lifetime.”
Delta Chi was founded in 1967 at the Daytona Beach Campus. Commemorating its golden anniversary in 2017, Delta Chi partnered with Embry-Riddle to build the first fraternity house located on campus-owned property in the Chanute complex.
